Top 20 Budget Phaser Pedals Under $50, $100, $150, $200

If you are looking to build yourself a pedalboard, at one point, you might want to consider getting a phaser pedal. Phaser is one of the most versatile effects you can find, and it is present in many iconic songs.

Jimi Hendrix used it, Eddie Van Halen used it, Frank Zappa, and many other legendary players. And now, you can use it as well. Of course, not everyone can just go to the store and buy the best phaser known to humankind. Instead, they will need to make a couple of choices.

Here, I will go through the best budget phaser pedals you can find, that will help you build a pedalboard. If you are looking to find incredible products for a low price, you will enjoy the following list.

Top 5 Budget Phaser Pedals Under $50

To start the list, we have the lowest budget category you can find. Now, everyone knows that the cheapest models are not the best, but this doesn’t mean that all pedals you can find in this budget range are useless. In fact, there are a couple of models that are quite decent, and you will have so much fun using them.

The focus here is on models that cost under $50, and you’d be surprised by models you can find for such a low amount of money.

The first model on the list comes from Donner. Donner is one of the biggest names when it comes to affordable equipment, and the company specializes in mini pedals. This mod square is also a mini pedal, and it comes with seven different mods you can use.

Since our primary focus here is phaser pedals, I should mention that phaser is just one of many effects you can use. If you are looking for a multi-purpose effect for a low price, Donner Mod Square is an excellent option.

While the main advantage of the Vintage Phase pedal is the price, it is still a good version of the phaser pedal. Finally, the pedal is a clone of MXR Phase-90.

Azor is another excellent choice for those looking to save money in the process. The pedal is inexpensive, it’s durable, and it sounds surprisingly good. The design of the pedal is fairly simple, and you have three knobs to adjust speed, width, and feedback.

For those that enjoy the true bypass, this pedal has one, and it is completely analog. This is another mini pedal that works with both adapters and 9V batteries. However, the adapter is usually not included in the kit.

It is also another model inspired by MXR, but for a significantly lower price. The pedal is mini, and it comes with noise reduction. So, if you are looking to get an affordable pedal, this is one of the finest models you can find for the price.

The final model in this category is another pedal by Joyo, but this time, we have a model called Nebulous Classic Phaser. The design of the pedal is probably the first thing I should mention since it is quite unique. There is a lid you can use to cover the knobs, to avoid messing up the settings once you’re satisfied with the sound.

The pedal also has a true bypass, three knobs, and it’s quite good. Nebulous Classic Phaser is durable since it’s made of metal, and you can make a lot of interesting sounds with it.

Top 5 Budget Phaser Pedals Under $100

It is time to increase the price range and take a look at pedals between $50 and $100. The most obvious difference here is that there are a lot more well-known brands you can find. While it is still a budget category, we can find a couple of decent models that will sound incredibly well with a good setting.

Of course, if you want top-quality you will need to spend a bit more, but this is a price range that many players will be comfortable with.

MXR M101 Phase 90

MXR Phase 90 Guitar Effects Pedal

  • 5.5 x 2.5 x 4.5 inches (13.97 x 6.35 x 11.43 centimeters)

MXR Phase 90 is a classic phaser pedal, and I have mentioned it a couple of times already. Several pedals in the previous category were inspired by this model, and it is incredible. The pedal is easy to use. There is a single-speed potentiometer, and the casing is made of metal.

This is one of the go-to pedals when it comes to the phaser, and many guitarists wouldn’t go for anything else. As for the design, the entire pedal is simplified, and it has a classic design. The focus here is on quality, and there are no unique parts or features.

The first thing I should mention about the Nux Mod Core Deluxe is that it is not a single-effect pedal. The effect comes with eight different modes, and it includes chorus, flanger, tremolo, vibrato, and of course, phaser. So, if you are interested in the phaser only, this might not be a good investment.

However, those that enjoy having a multi-effect pedal might find this one exciting. The pedal has a knob to select the effect, and the other three to adjust the tone. It’s easy to use, it’s durable, and you can connect it to your PC via USB.

  • 13.4 ounces (379.88 grams)
  • 5.59 x 3.07 x 3.39 inches (14.2 x 7.8 x 8.6 centimeters)

Behringer has been one of the biggest names for a while, and here, we have a Vintage VP1. It is a traditional phaser with one knob to adjust the speed. The pedal is easy to use, it’s durable, and sounds great. One of the main advantages of this pedal is that it is quite cheap, and it’s rather close to the under $50 category.

The pedal also has a switch to select between positive and negative feedback. With the negative feedback, the signal is delayed and then inverted while the positive feedback uses a non-inverted signal.

  • Tap tempo
  • 7 ounces (198.45 grams)
  • 4.45 x 2.4 x 2.36 inches (11.3 x 6.1 x 6 centimeters)

This is another multi-effect pedal that includes a phaser as well. Valeton Coral Mod II has sixteen different modes you can use by turning the biggest knob. It has several versions of tremolo, flanger, chorus, vibrato, and others. Of course, if you are looking for a single-effect pedal, there are better options.

I wouldn’t suggest buying a pedal that offers many different effects while only using a single one. But for those that don’t own a complete pedalboard, Valeton Coral Mod II can be an interesting option.

MXR M290 combines 45 and 90 modes, and you can toggle between them using a switch. It is a great pedal you can check out, and it gives the traditional phaser sound. As with the previous MXR model, there is a single switch to adjust the speed.

One of the main differences here is that the pedal is significantly smaller, but the quality is the same. So, if you enjoy using both Phase 45 and Phase 90, this is a perfect choice for you since M290 has both circuits.

Some of the options here are quite impressive, and you might even hear about pros using similar versions. So, the equipment is still not on the pro level, but it is close enough.

To start the category, we have an improved version of Phase 90. Well, improved according to Eddie Van Halen’s standard since this is his signature pedal. The design of the pedal is red with white stripes, which is the same as his famous Frankenstrat guitar.

As with other MXR models, there is a single knob to adjust the speed and the pedal is easy to use. If you are a fan of EVH, you will love this pedal. The quality is incredible, and it gives you a lot of options to create a heavier sound for your guitar.
