  1. I’ve only been playing for a few years. Marty Swartz videos were definitely at the top of my list in the early days. He’s as good as it gets for breaking things down for beginners. I’m surprised that Party Marty didn’t make the list. His channel should be everybody’s first stop after they get comfortable with G-C-D. #partymarty

    1. Nice list, Mary Schwartz is definitely great. I look at his vids every day. The other guy who is fantastic is Rob Swift, hes well worth a look…

  2. Glad to see Bernth on this list! If you like his channel, and/or Robert Bakers channel, I recommend the Ben Eller channel. There’s a lot of classic rock and metal, but his lessons are applicable to most genres and styles. What really keeps me coming back to his channel, though, is his excellent delivery style. All too often, guitar teachers on YouTube can come off dry and humorless. This is definitely not the case with Ben Eller. Watch his videos on “Stuff Gojira does” or “Stuff Mastodon does” and you’ll see what I mean. I’m often so entertained by his videos that I don’t even realize until later that Im making enormous strides in my technique due to his uniquely insightful explanations.
Also, if you’re interested in gear and the history behind your favorite brands and models of guitars and amplifiers, I implore you to check out Five Watt World. It’s full of laboriously researched and well sourced material on topics like the history of the Les Paul, Telecaster, Gretsch, the Marshall Plexi, and so on.
Wonderful article by the way. I can’t wait to check out the channels I was unfamiliar with like Rachelf and 5 minute guitar. Cheers!
