I created a set of tips that you can follow which will help you motivate yourself to play the guitar. These tips have motivated me to play my instrument and to get better.

Once you have the motivation there is nothing that you can’t achieve on guitar.

Make A List Of Songs To Learn

Improve your guitar playing by learning a wide range of songs. Make a list of songs that you want to learn. You’ll be more motivated when you have songs to play that you find exciting or inspirational. Add new songs to your list and make sure you review older songs when you’re practicing.

Try to add songs that have various difficulty levels. You should have a wide range in your repertoire. If you’re new, start with simple songs because these will motivate you as you can play them. If you are a more accomplished guitar player, learn songs you find difficult. This will push you forward and make you better.

Create A Positive Mindset

To become better at guitar playing you need a positive mindset. You have to focus your attention on your instrument. You won’t get better on the guitar if you are negative. A self-defeating is not the way to go as you develop musical skills. You have to understand that it takes a lot of time to become a proficient guitar player.

The more time you dedicate to practice, the better you’re going to get. By setting a positive mindset you will be well on your way to mastering your instrument. You will be positive about the entire process which will help you reach goals you’ve set for yourself.

Your negative emotions get in the way of making progress. If you have negative emotions ask yourself why. Don’t compare yourself to other musicians. The music that you create will be your own unique style. You are better than negative emotions. Pick up your guitar and start practicing and the inspiration will follow. Create the music that is inside of you.

Remove Distractions In Your Practice Space

To improve your practice routine you need an area that is free of distractions. You want to place where you can sit down and dedicate yourself to practicing.

You should remove distractions that are around you. Create an area that is comfortable for you. Make sure you have a comfortable chair and that all materials needed are around you.

If you’re using your phone to practice, don’t waste time on social media. Create an area that you go to each time you want to practice and set up this area so it’s free of all distractions.

If you have a place where you can concentrate on your guitar this will help you learn in less time. Get all of your materials together and start practicing

Don’t Make Excuses For Not Practicing

One of the worst things that you can do is make excuses for not practicing. You may be busy, have a job, or be going to school. These are not excuses for not playing your guitar. Even if you can only find 15 minutes per day to practice this is better than nothing.

You will never reach your goals as a musician if you don’t practice. It takes a lot of time to master the guitar. The longer you put off practicing your guitar the harder it will be to get better.

You will forget the material that you have learned. You’ll have to retrain your hands to get up to speed when you decide to pick up your guitar again. Excuses are a way of getting yourself out of work.

Practicing your guitar will take some work. If you want to achieve great things you have to practice. Excuses will not get you anywhere so don’t make them.
